I am surrounded by them. Two of my friend are specialist at the beetles and buses. I had alot of fun days in my early 20's having beach parties and passed out in a Kombi.

I would like to have a brand new one as a collector... (dream on) and convert it to a 2-seater sleeper-bus with a build in fridge.BigGrin

This takes me back to 1965 when I owned a Beetle and then on to a Kombi or camper van as we called it.
This is a picture of a model I made a few years ago.

Nice work Trev. Its great to see these vehicles still trundling around. The South West seems to have an abundance of them and quite a few hire business' have sprung up.
Jamie Oliver famously owned one which had a Porche engine fitted.. Blink

Hasegawa released a kit not too long ago..

Me Flapper Flapper

A design icon and the original Idea that was the forerunner of every van today. I went to Cornwall in a hired one a couple of years ago it was the best fun family holiday ever. everybody waved as you drove past I even had a bus load of germans photographing it at Jamaca Inn car park!!! they are so cool!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely agree.
That's the fun of the whole world - not just cars or models.
We all like/love different things.

However, I will add......
The VW VAN (that's what it is - a VAN!) is the most HIDEOUS creation ever to come out of the motoring world.
I'm waiting for Jeremy Clarkson to start on them in the same way he has with that other motoring abomination - CARAVANS!!!!!!!

Roy. (Now I'm REALLY ducking low!!!) (seriously - LOL)
